MY GOALS for 2012

I've noticed that some of you are setting goals for yourself instead of making New Year's resolutions. I've decided that I need to set some goals for myself as well. While I'm thinking of what they should be I've decided to share a few photos we took on Christmas day.

Do you remember my grandson Donovan? The last photo I showed of him he was 7 years old.

such a handsome guy then.....

.....and now, he's still a good looking guy.
He'll turn 25 on February 2nd.

Remember how my daughter looked back then?

then......

....and now. She's still wearing black.

This is Donovan's lovely girlfriend Dee who is a sweetie and is pretty as can be.

This is Bambi's hubby and my son-in-law Damien.

This is me Christmas of '92 and since I haven't changed any I saw no reason to include a photo from this year.

I'm still working on those goals. Nothing concrete yet, just vague ideas like eating healthier, getting more exercise and more sleep. I might add something like maintaining a brighter outlook and not being too hard on myself.

Maybe I should be getting out in the world more and perhaps finding something out there to make me feel like there is a reason for my existence. We all need to feel like we have a purpose and lately I've been feeling like I really don't have one. Something to think about.

Maybe my goals will be something like refurbishing my home, room by room and posting my completed rooms one at a time. Now that's a hoot!!! This body does come with restrictions. No bending or folding to name a few.

Maybe I'll start working on that stack of canvases and do a painting a week or maybe just one a month since I'd need a whole lot of inspiration which I don't seem to have lately.

Maybe I'll start quilting again and get involved with some of the quilting blogs I follow. Could be a way to use up some of that fabric I've been hording.

So, how many of you are putting together a list of goals you wish to accomplish in 2012? How many of you think it's a waste of time? I'd love to hear from you on this subject.

So, welcome to 2012 and as always, thanks for stopping by.

Hi Miss Maddyrose,

Oh yes, I think making a list (checking it twice, oops, wrong list) is important in accomplishing goals. It's a visual thing - you can read it, add to it, and of course the best part - check it off the list.

Happy list making.

Heaps of Hugs
Prudence

P.S.
You have a very "bee-u-tee-ful" family. Although I would have liked to see Bellamine & Wendy in one of those photos. Oh well....sigh.

Hi, Maddy - what a nice looking family! I'm going to volunteer for
the animal shelter this year, and
I've been bringing fleece and old sheets/bedding to the drop offs for the various pet shelters. I love the little furry critters!

You are as beautiful as you have ever been my dear. Lovely family pictures then and now.
I walk in your mocassins lots but you already know that. As far as finding a purpose.....well we all have moments when what we do doesn't look like enough and I am sure you will find enough to make you happy because you are searching. Prime motivation for finding joy. But be careful, the bending and folding thing is easily forgotten until it backfires on ya (read my new blog). Love your sweet thoughtful self, Oma Linda

Love your now and then photos! What a wonderful family you have! No goals for me just taking one day at a time! :-)

Well those look like achievable goals. I hope you do get the chance to jump on the quilty bandwagon again for a while, but I would be equally happy to see some fab paintings. Who knows, maybe giving either of them a go will suddenly give your inspiration a kick into gear again :o)

Holy cow, I wish I still looked like I did in 1992!!! :~P

My goal this year is to stop putzing around with the bookkeeping and keep up with it so I don't have a big honkin' mess like I do THIS year. Can you guess what I've been doing lately? Talk about a lack of inspiration!

Hope your 2012 is full of love, light, and laughter.

Maddy, being hard on oneself shouldn't be an option for you...such a beautiful and talented lady. I am a goal setter, and find it helps me to end the day by setting goals for the next day. What a beautiful family you have...love your handsome Donovan's smile. Was the gift he was carrying for you?

Thanks for sharing some of your family photos, Maddy. If you ask them I'm sure they can tell you exactly how important you are to each of them. Perhaps that is the type of list you are needing about now. Or maybe start a list of things you do as you do them ~ bet you'd be surprised by all your lovely accomplishments.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work this year ~ your talent makes me smile! :D

hugs,
laura

Hello, Dearest Maddy.
Oh, time flies and lovely to see your family, my friend♡♡♡
I am a bit of camera shy myself,p;)

Well, my new year resolution;
I think that last year I didn't have much time to enjoy listening English both News like CNN from satellite or movies I wish to watch. It would be lovely to be able to share my time for these.
Haha, quite different from your artistic wonderful wishes.
Hope our new year will be prosperous one!!!

Blessing to you, xoxo Miyako*

Happy New Year Maddy Rose!
what a beautiful family! Thank you for sharing them with us -
I agree, I need to set some goals, too....i don't think setting goals is a waste of time because sometimes when you put words to paper it helps sort and visualize all of your dreams!
hugs!

Loved the photos. And you look as beautiful as you did back in '92!
:-) I'm not sure about all the goals I'll be doing this year. It's tough, isn't it? To pick those out and go for them? I do know my two biggest goals are to help my son adjust from home school to college sometime this year. I also know that we'll find our home this year to move into in the country. That's a huge one for me. I need to get out of the burbs before I suffocate.

I hope 2012 brings you a full year of delightful surprises and wonderful times.

Bright blessings,
Bird

I suppose we all set goals throughout the year, but not many come to fruition. I keep my goals simple, and attainable, that way, I am rarely ever dissapointed in myself. My goal right now is to continue losing weight, and eat healthy, as well as excersise. The weight is coming off very slowly, but I am gaining muscle, so I will not worry about the numbers as much as the health! You have a beautiful family Maddy, and are very lucky, it is obvious you hold them near and dear. Have a great week, XOXO Christel

Beautiful family Maddy, and I can't think back to 92',,,geesh, I think we still lived in NY. I feel this way at times, it's just time passing, and we don't want it to pass us by. Though we may not be in the Summer of our lives, and the seasons truly do change, I don't want to. But look at that family, and know!

I'm with ya,

Your family is just beautiful! I love being able to see then and now pictures. So many memories and new ones to create.

I have heard that if you are still here upon this earth, you have a purpose. Sometimes I wonder about my own as well. I don't think I have ever really discovered it so I find myself being a life long seeker.

I always have goals but being a virgo I just can't help myself. Sometimes those goals swerve a bit off the road but they always end up being on the same path. I think goals are good for keeping us on the right train and moving us out of the train station, but I also believe our souls know what we truly need and helps to guide us in those directions.

It's so nice to stop in for a visit and delight in your world. Hugs to you my lovely friend.
