LAST BUNNY FOR NOW

I didn't expect to get this last bunny painted so quickly but he's joined the other bunnies on the buffet. Someone said that my bunnies have bedroom eyes. I think that might be a good assessment. This latest bunny not only has bedroom eyes but also a reputation with the ladies. He's not a cad but he does adore the women folk.

This bunny's name is Romeo Rabbit and he's a real charmer.

This is Romeo's first season working at the Easter Egg Factory.

He's young and full of energy and has so much spring in his step he's not trusted to handle real eggs so he's been assigned to work in the jelly bean department. Here he is taking the jelly bean centers to be colored.

Now that I've finished with the bunnies I can concentrate on finishing up a few more projects.

I've started working on two small quilt tops for two little bears to take with them to summer camp. I've been wanting to start a scrap quilt but don't have enough scraps to make one large enough for a bed or throw but with the scraps from some recent sewing projects I might have enough to make two smaller ones. I need to get a blade for my rotary cutter so I can cut some more white squares for the one on the left and more pale pink for the one on the right.  I also need to buy a quilt bat and some fabric for backing.

This week has been a busy one with trying to get projects finished and eggs colored for the Easter egg hunt and I still need to shop for Easter Sunday dinner. I'd love for the weather to be nice for Sunday but the forecast doesn't look promising.

A HARE NAMED HERMAN

I hadn't planned on leaving the last post up for over a week but left unexpectedly last Monday so this post is a week late. I took a trip to visit my sisters. I hadn't planned on visiting them when I did or I would have been better prepared. I forgot my laptop and my camera which is a pity or I could have taken photos of the 6 to 8 inches of snow we got while I was there. The snow is lovely there because they are surrounded by pine trees. They live next door to each other on a Christmas tree farm and I can think of nothing lovelier than a pine tree covered in snow so hundreds of them covered in snow is really a sight.

Before I left I had completed two more bunnies and would like to introduce you to one of them, a little guy I named Herman Hare.

Herman is taking a carrot break and from the look on his face I'm thinking this is probably not the only carrot he's eaten. My son says Herman looks like he's ready for a nap.

The carrot is carved from wood and it is not the first one I carved for him. I ended up making three. No he didn't eat them, it seems that somehow I lost them. They're small and before being painted they didn't really show up very well when laid down or dropped on the floor. I actually lost the second one while I was holding it. Talk about butter fingers....

It has to be somewhere around my work area but I haven't found it yet and won't need it if it ever does show up.

I just had to show you his nub of a tail.

Yep, this fella needs a nap or maybe he's going to sneeze. I get that look when I'm on the verge of sneezing.

Saturday my sister and I went to the Pendleton outlet store and I bought some buttons. Then we went to Le Gudwil and I found a lovely tin to keep them in.

You see, I bought so many buttons they just won't fit in my button box. Here's what nearly two and a half pounds of buttons look like. Now imagine sorting them. Fun?? You betcha!!

I'm still working on the last bunny and will hopefully have him completed this week. I'm also experimenting with some paper mache eggs. It seems that although I could buy them ready made and eliminate a lot of the work I have to be obstinate and do it the hard way and make my own. What can I say? I'm stubborn.

FIRST OF MY PUDGY BUNNIES

February is a month for birthdays in my family. Today my son Ken is celebrating his and  yesterday my grandson AJ had his. The day before that was my brother-in-law Ron's birthday. My grandson Donovan had his birthday on February 2nd and my mother's birthday was on the 8th. For a short month we made the best of it.

I told Ken I was baking him his favorite cake and here's his reaction:

I've been working on some paper mache rabbits for Easter and I finally have one painted and ready for his debut. The ones I have made so far all appear to have packed on a few pounds over the long winter months. I was trying to come up with a name for this one and finally decided to name him what I've been calling him all the while I worked on him.

I would like you to meet Pugsley Cottontail.

Okay, turn a little to your right so we can get a better look at what you've got there. Pugsley is carrying a green painted metal bucket with a rope handle that holds a bouquet of flowers.

Let's get a look at that tail. It really does look like it's made of cotton. Okay, turn a little more...

Without the bucket in the way you really can see the pudgy tummy.

"Hey, who're you calling pudgy?? You got a problem with chubby rabbits?? I didn't think so!

I should be able to start painting another bunny tomorrow. It seems to take forever for the paper mache to dry this time of year.
