SORTING & CLEANING

I almost always make the most terrible mess in my Craft Room/Art Studio/Sewing Room in the months leading up to Christmas so once the holiday is over and year has come to an end there is only one thing to do….. Yes, you’ve guessed it. It’s time to rent a fork lift and steam shovel and maybe even an earth mover to take care of the mess. Okay, maybe the heavy equipment isn’t necessary but it is really tempting. What I did instead was spend two days in here sorting and putting away and throwing things out. You heard me right, I threw some things out. Not many things but a few things anyway. I still haven’t emptied the waste basket so if I wanted I could take a photo for proof.
I mentioned in my last post that I’d brought home a gargantuan heap of doll parts when I helped Maggie so I decided now was a good time to sort through those too. Just so you know I wasn’t exaggerating about the gargantuan heap I took some photos.

This is the heap of dolls that I sorted into containers

Here are two of the containers of ones that are close to being completed.

I also took photos of my neat work area. I even vacuumed and dusted. I had to empty the canister twice and there isn’t a lot of floor space to vacuum.
There’s still a pile of junk, miscellaneous valuable items heaped in front of the closet door. Since I won’t need to get into the closet for a while I’m not too concerned.

Since I finished cleaning in here I find that I really don’t want to mess things up again so I guess this is the end of me making anything ever again.  You believe that, don't you?
Actually, it’s almost too neat and it’s making me nervous. I think I’m going to have to make a mess really soon.
I've been trying to post this off and on for the past several hours but have had a terrible time because for whatever reason blogger won't let me upload photos in the usual way. Have you had any problems uploading photos to your posts?
Now that I've finally gotten this post finished I have to start putting away the Christmas things. I’m not looking forward to doing it because it always makes me a bit sad and wish I could leave everything the way it is right now.
Have a good day and as always, thanks for stopping by.

Hi Miss Maddyrose,

Oh no, the "can't upload pictures" monster strikes again.

Mom says she will e-mail you about that.

Wow, your craft room is bee-u-tee-ful, so tidy. I understand though about having it a smidge messy, better to find things, right?

Whose poor dollies!

I've been working on Christmas stuff and cleaning as I go! It's a JOB! And when I craft, I make a big mess and have to clean up from time to time to even keep going. I love seeing all of your dolls! What potential...what fun to have projects that just need a little tweaking...or some clothes! heehee! Enjoy!

See this is where you and I differ. I can't wait to get the Christmas stuff put away. It makes me nutz to have it up past New Year's eve. So we finally got the outdoor lights up yesterday and the Itchiness has subsided. I love that your work area is so picked up. Wow, I'm jealous. My problem is when I pickup....I lose so many things in the clean up. But I guess it is time to also call in the heavy equipment and get down to the bottoms of the piles of fun.
Love the dolls....hmmmm and what will they be???? I can hardly wait to find out. S&S, Oma Linda

Maddy,
Thanks for sharing pics of your work space. I love to see where other artist do their creating.

And I know exactly how you feel about putting away Christmas. It makes me sad every year. When my children were young I used to let them keep out one Christmas item all year. Perhaps we need to start doing that for ourselves.
hugs,
Laura

WOW!!! I love your creative space Maddy.

Yes, I had a terrible time with loading pics yesterday, infact i just plain couldnt get it to work.
So, i signed out of blogger, then i used my google chrome brower to get to blogger and it worked.
I know nothing about computers but we did have to install google chrome for other issues we were having with videos.. so I tried it and it worked.

I hope it helped.

have lots of fun in your studio !

Well done, Maddy - wish I could say that I've done as well. I think it must be because all the mess falls 'down under' and lands in our house!
Hugs,

Those dolls are just crying out for some clothes....it will be interesting to see what sort of personality they have....
I like your craft room, now could you come and finish mine.......I really do need a fork lift to get those two large pieces of furniture out of there.

Wow, the box of unfinished dolls. No matter that I have my own heap of unfinished dolls, yours look so wonderful. And your room! Everything in boxes and organised! I've just managed to clear space to the sewing machine from the door. Can I come and sew in your room? I'll bring tea and scones...

Oh my goodness, after the holidays and putting everything away, I need a fork lift and steam shovel for the entire house. Your craft room looks so organized now. I have finally gotten to where I can put away the craft supplies at the end of each season, but other than running the vacuum, the rest stays in a heaping pile of mess. ;-)

Your dolls are already looking beautiful and I can't wait to see them in completion. Warmest hugs to you my lovely friend! Mina

I love the dolls. I am anxious to see them dressed. Your craft/sewing room looks so neat and organized. I can't bear to think of doing mine. It's a very small room and definitely not tidy!
