A JUNE SANTA

Remember those three Santa heads that made me think about the old television show, "What's My Line"? The first of the three has been given a body and is finally finished. The other two will be done within the next week or so.

So, what do you think? Is this the real Santa that travels the earth on Christmas Eve?

Let's see now, white hair and beard? Check. Has a bag of toys? Check. Looks good dressed in the color red? Check. Has a twinkle in his eye? Check. This sure looks like Santa to me.

Santa, that's sure a big teddy you have there.

In my last post I said I wasn't a doll maker and I have a feeling some of you might have misunderstood what I meant when I said that. I really am not a doll maker, but from time to time I may make one just to amuse myself. Like many of you I try my hand at doing different things. I enjoy making things sometimes just to see if I can. I'm a dabbler. Some of the things I do while dabbling actually surprize me when they turn out. The dolls are in that catagory. I have all of those heads that need bodies so I may be making a few more dolls in the future but don't for one moment think that it's going to make me a doll maker. I'll still be dabbling.

It looks like we may get some sunshine today. I'm okay with that. Unlike so many of you we haven't seen much sun so far this summer. I know there are many areas that could use some rain. It's a shame we can't order up the weather we need. Maybe rain through the night while we're sleeping and then sunshine during the day. Wouldn't that be perfect?

I hope you enjoyed seeing my latest Santa. I've got two more to finish and that will bring the total of Santas for this year to eight. Not bad considering it's only June.

Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by.

HE IS SO CUTE!

They're creepy and they're kooky,
mysterious and spooky
They're all together ooky,
 the Addams Family

Their house is a museum,
when people come to see-em
They really are a scre-um
the Addams Family

Neat, sweet, petite

So get a witch's shawl on,
a broomstick you can crawl on
We're going to make a call on
the Addams Family

Heeheehee.....

This is for those of you who had the Addams Family theme song stuck in your head after seeing Wednesday since it may have started to fade or go away completely. I have had the stupid song running around in my head for weeks now and I can't seem to get it out of there. Maybe now that I've finished Pugsley it will fade away.

I started Pugsley weeks ago but have had so many other things going on he didn't get completed as quickly as I wanted him to. I'm really pleased with the way he turned out considering that when I started the head I was sculpting it for another doll I was making. Remember Lula? Well this was the second head I started on for her because I thought the first one and the one I actually went with might be too small for all that personality.

Since I hate wasting anything it's a good thing that with some clever rework I was able to turn what was supposed to be Lula into this cute little fellow.

How about smiling for the camera Pugsley?

That's much better.

Pugsley with his sister Wednesday. They really are a somber looking pair aren't they?

Pugsley doing his "I could care less" pose.

For siblings they really don't look that much alike. Where Wednesday is thin with black hair and very pale complexion, Pugsley is ruggedly built with brown hair although he too has a very pale complexion. They don't seem to like the sun all that much which is a plus if they stay here.

I have now made four sets of siblings since last August starting with Bellamine and Bartholomew and ending with Wednesday and Pugsley. Besides the six shown below there were the two little red headed sisters that I made for St. Paddy's Day. I wouldn't be mentioning this except that as I said before, I'm not a doll maker.

From left to right we have Dory, Pugsley, Bellamine, Wednesday, Donner and Bartholomew.

Wednesday and Pugsley seem to be fitting in very well. The other kids all seem to be quite taken with them.

Note the two below hanging on to every word.

Donner seems to be very fond of Wednesday and can't seem to get enough of that sweet smile of hers.

Bellamine and Dory get all giggly when Pugsley comes into a room and Dory, Wendy and Bellamine all seem to be emulating Wednesday. I'm not sure what to think about that.

I'm keeping busy trying to get bodies made for the heads I started in March. I have made some progress. Besides what I've shown you in my most recent posts there are three Santa Claus figures on the drying racks that have only a bit more work to be done on them before they're ready to be painted. I also have two sets of arms that I painted this morning that are drying and will be fastened onto the dolls that I went shopping for dress fabric for this week. Then there are a few more heads that are nearly ready to be painted and if I ever get patterns made for their bodies I'll have a trio of aliens from outer space to show you. That should be fun.... I hope.

We are still not having the sunshine and warm temperatures that my poor garden would like. Getting one day here and there doesn't seem to be doing it.

The lack of warm weather and sunshine aren't the only things that are keeping my garden from flourishing. We've also been getting visitors who seem to like young tender shoots. I just now caught this culprit sneaking into the side yard. Little bugger did a belly crawl right under the fence.

It's okay, if you want to eat those, it'll save me the trouble of pulling them.

Now, these on the other hand are beans so stay away from them. Okay?

and stay away from anything you see growing in the planters.

Didn't I just say to stay out of the planters? With those big ears you'd think you'd be able to hear better or are you just pretending not to hear me? All right, shoo, get out of there. Hey listen up bunny, I said get out of there!

This is the first I've seen of this fella but for the past week I have been wondering what was happening to my seedlings. Between the squirrels digging in the planters and this little one helping himself to anything that looks good to him, things have been disappearing. I'm sure the rabbit is a pet that has gotten out.  Hope someone comes looking for him before all of my beans and lettuces are gone.

Enjoy your weekend and as always, thanks for stopping by.

We Love This Store!!

We're going to have a glorious time at our favorite store. It's one of only a few where Mom lets us go shopping with her. She says it's because there's something here for everyone and it's so big cause it's a super store so it's not too crowded. She doesn't like to take us into crowded stores. She's afraid we'll get bear napped.

"Hey Mom can we get some of these cute little bird houses for us to paint? We don't have any new projects to work on and these are on sale and the birds need new houses and if we get one for each of us bears to paint we can have a whole bird house community. Huh? Can we get some, pleeeeease?"

"I can't believe she said no to the bird houses. Hey, Bellamine, look over there at that display. Every thing is on sale. We don't have any forth of July stuff yet. Maybe we can find something to decorate or little tree."

"What do you mean it's too big for me? You can take it in no sweat Mom."

"Mom, can we get some of these guys for the garden? Aren't they so cute? Look how cute this one's shoes are."

"Bellamine, get back in the cart right this minute." (mom)

"How about one of these doggies? Can we get a doggie thingy for the garden?"

"Look at the froggies and the kitties and more doggies down here on this shelf. We really do need some of these for the garden. Which ones should we get? What do you think Wendy? We need some of these don't we? What's that Mom? What do you mean we don't need anything else in the garden? There's still lots of room where we could put some of these garden thingies."

"Wait until the kids at home get a look at these. We're going to have so much fun playing with these when we get home."

"Hey Mom look! They're only $9.99. Can we get two?"

"Ahhh....aren't these little bears and doggies cute? Can we get some? Pleeeeeease? Look, there's even some piggies."

"WOW!!! Look at all of the clothes! Mom do you think there's something in our sizes? Look at those dresses Wendy, I'm sure that one is your size. Come on Mom, can we try some on?"

"Look Mom, there's some garden shoes like yours only in my size and they're even pink. Can I get some? Pleeeease...."

"Can you make this hat a little tighter? I don't want it to fall off."

"Oh look Mom they're got some really pretty flowers here too. You said you wanted to look for flowers and here they are. Wotcha mean not these kind of flowers? These are pretty and they'll last longer than the kind that you stick in dirt."

"Hey Mom, we're getting hungry and thirsty and you said we could go out to lunch and I need to visit the little Bear's room. What do you mean you've got to look at the fabric first? Can't you come back and look at the fabric some other time when you're by yourself?"

" We're getting really really hungry and if we don't get to the little Bear's room I'm going to have an accident!! Wendy, do you want to look at fabric? See Mom, Wendy shook her head no and.....
I need to go to the little Bear's room NOW!!!!!"

"While Mom and Bellamine are looking for the restroom I thought I'd say so long because you really don't want to go along with us to lunch and watch us eat. When we get home we'll check our friends' blogs to see what every bear has been up to. It won't be long now, only three more weeks and we'll be seeing most of our friends at camp. Hope everyone is enjoying summer. It finally turned summer here too. Actually it turned summer here just yesterday. See you all soon."

Is it Wednesday?

I've been keeping busy inside while it's been gray and rainy outside. Here it is a week and a half into June and it still seems like spring here. Soon I hope to be spending more time doing summer like things like working in my garden and having cook outs in the back yard. Until then I'll keep working at making bodies for those heads on sticks.

Here is my latest. I know she's not the prettiest little thing but she does have a certain charm.

I've always had a warm spot for the members of the Addams family and when I started working on the head of this doll I knew right away she was to be Wednesday. I don't always know what a piece is going to be when it's completed. Sometimes I just start sculpting and wait to see what or who is going to emerge. My sister thinks I should make Pugsley to keep Wednesday company but for the moment she's going to have to make friends with some of the gang already living here.

It looks like Bellamine has made Wednesday feel right at home.

I've also been working on bodies for the three Santa heads I showed you a while back and hope to have at least one finished in the new week. So, I've cleaned up the sewing mess and will be moving to the sculpting work table where I'll concentrate of finishing a Santa or three.

Have a wonderful week and as always, thanks for stopping by.

Lula

Have you ever had someone tell you that you have no style sense? I had that happen to me just this morning. Mind you when it happened I was in my work clothes so I didn't feel to bad about it..... at first. Besides, the person telling me this has more fashion sense than most people.

Meet Lula, a fashionista if there ever was one.  Here's how the conversation went:

Maddyrose, can I say something without upsetting you? Well, sweetie, you have no sense of style. What do you call that garment you're wearing anyway?

That's a nightie? You're joking, right? It does nothing to show off your figure. Here, look how these Capri pants fit me. See how they show off my curves?
(Okay, so I work in my nightie most mornings. Big deal!)

We're about the same size but where you hide what nature gave you I accentuate it. I'm a full bodied woman and proud of it. Let's see one of those skinny stick figured women try wearing something like this and looking this hot.

Then there's knowing how to accessorize. You have to have the right shoes and bag to go with your outfit. The shoes and bag have to match too. There's nothing tackier than shoes and bag that don't match. See how perfect these go together?

These shoes are great for showing off curvy calves and trim ankles like mine. Now with open toed shoes you really need to have a good pedicure and the polish on your toenails should go with what you're wearing. See how mine match my Capri pants?

Now we come to bling. Bling is important to make any girl feel more glamorous.

So, girlfriend, go put on something I won't feel ashamed to be seen with you in and we're going to go shopping. While you're getting ready I'll help myself to some coffee to go with these doughnuts.

Lula and I are taking off now for an afternoon at the mall. With her help I might end up looking less old and frumpy. Wish me luck.

As always, thanks for stopping by.
