I finished another Santa this past weekend and now all three of the Santa heads that I sculpted and showed you way back when have bodies. With this last one I couldn’t make up my mind what I wanted him to be holding. I tried out about a dozen different ideas but none of them looked right. I had to settle on something so he would be finished and I could paint him but I’m not sure if I like what I settled on. I need some feedback here. What do you think?
I just love candy canes and peppermint lollipops. Don't you?
The candy is made using cold porcelain clay that has been painted. I tried coloring the clay first but didn’t care for the results.
Here are some photos of the Santa who is holding the candy. It seems to me the finish on this piece has a lot more shine to it than it should considering I used a matte sealer.
You may have noticed this Santa doesn't have a scarf or hat sticking out of his pockets. That's because his cloak has a hood.
The three Santa sculpts are now complete. It would seem the doll and bear balance is now out of whack. You know how important it is to maintain a balance.
That's all I've got for now. There are some projects in the works. All are quite different from what I have been doing and should present me with some challenges.
Have a great week and as always, thanks for stopping by.

That's a yummy looking Santa. I love the candies with him. He has a very kind face.
Now GK want to tell you something.....thank you so much for the Dorothy, I love her very much....she even looks a little like me. I sent you a drawing in your Oz giveaway prize. Hope you like it. GK
I think the bear balance is just fine ;o) Love the candy canes and lolly
This is my favorite Santa of the three! I like his candies. I say the bear balance is fine, too.
I Love this Santa best as well. There is something very innocent and unique about him offering the candy. You always see Santa with toys but the candy is a nice surprise! And the red and white is perfect!!You Cannot have too much red and white for Christmas!
The trio of Santa's is lovely! It certainly gets me in a holiday mood!
OH, yes, I agree with the crowd...Your latest Santa might be my favorite too. I say MIGHT for I do love the others too...the sweet little doll and the wonderful bear...so hard to choose a favorite.
I love the lolly pop Santa. Something different, and what boy or girl wouldn't like candy for Christmas.
Hugs
Great work on the candy (looks good enough to eat!), and this Santa has a kind, open face that invites one to confide in him. Let me know his consulting hours when he sets up his practice.
Hugs, Kayzy
Dearest Maddy,
Yes, I think the balance is just fine!!! How SWEET the Santa is, hehe♡♡♡ I've always wanted to try lollipop in your country. And SO fascinated by all three Santas with different warm characters represented with their facial expressions and lovely things they have♬♬♬
Hope you are coping with the heat, my Dear bs!!!
Lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
I love them all! And, the one you just finished, I think is very sweet! No pun intended ;o) LOL! I think the balance is great!
Me encanta ver de nuevo a tus "Santas", un buena idea lo de la capucha en el traje, absolutamente originales.
Me encantan esos dulces navideƱos.
besitos ascension
They look beautiful Maddy. As for the shine the two redder ones seem to be a little shinier I wonder if it is the colour of paint that comes out shinier with a glaze. I think my favourite is the candy man. The others are lovely too.
lovely day,
Sue
Maddy this Santa is adorable and I think the peppermint candy is a wonderful idea. I LOVE peppermint and eat it year round. I am so happy to hear that the darlings are having a wonderful time in camp. Hugs, my sweet friend.
Dear Maddy, I see nothing out of whack, nor out of balance..the Santas are all three delightful! I think the candies add a different sort of personality to this Santa! Great work as always! xoxox Christel
