HAPPY EASTER

The Easter Bunny came and we all got Easter baskets. We've got lots of pictures to share so here goes.

The first ones were taken right after we woke up and came down stairs for breakfast.

As you can see, there was chocolate bunnies and candy eggs. Soon as we got our baskets we all started sampling. Mom wasn't too upset about it cause she figured we'd dig right in so she planned on having brunch instead of breakfast. She's pretty smart at times. Teehee!!

These next  pictures were taken after the Easter Egg hunt. It was nice outside and not too cold or wet so we had the hunt outdoors.

Everybear found at least one egg.

The mighty egg hunters~

~winner Oakley~

There were two winners, Clarissa and Oakley. Both of them found 3 eggs each. Inside the eggs are more candy. We really like the jelly beans and the little chocolate eggs. Mom said don't eat too much candy now cause we're going to have a big dinner today.

We thought we'd be nice to Mom and show her Easter decorations on the buffet cause she's got to move them to make room for food.

We want to wish everyone a beautiful day.

~Happy Easter~

LAST BUNNY FOR NOW

I didn't expect to get this last bunny painted so quickly but he's joined the other bunnies on the buffet. Someone said that my bunnies have bedroom eyes. I think that might be a good assessment. This latest bunny not only has bedroom eyes but also a reputation with the ladies. He's not a cad but he does adore the women folk.

This bunny's name is Romeo Rabbit and he's a real charmer.

This is Romeo's first season working at the Easter Egg Factory.

He's young and full of energy and has so much spring in his step he's not trusted to handle real eggs so he's been assigned to work in the jelly bean department. Here he is taking the jelly bean centers to be colored.

Now that I've finished with the bunnies I can concentrate on finishing up a few more projects.

I've started working on two small quilt tops for two little bears to take with them to summer camp. I've been wanting to start a scrap quilt but don't have enough scraps to make one large enough for a bed or throw but with the scraps from some recent sewing projects I might have enough to make two smaller ones. I need to get a blade for my rotary cutter so I can cut some more white squares for the one on the left and more pale pink for the one on the right.  I also need to buy a quilt bat and some fabric for backing.

This week has been a busy one with trying to get projects finished and eggs colored for the Easter egg hunt and I still need to shop for Easter Sunday dinner. I'd love for the weather to be nice for Sunday but the forecast doesn't look promising.

Enjoy your day and as always, thanks for stopping by.

Maddy

ONE MORE BUNNY

I've been busy working on several things at once as usual and getting nowhere fast. I have had my hands in paper mache clay and fabric. I've been making Easter eggs and bunnies and am working on a head or two for some mixed media dolls. I'm also working on a scrap quilt or maybe even two quilts. Hopefully I'll complete some of these projects and if they're not too terrible I'll share them with you.

Last Friday I got a scare. My blog vanished and I had no idea where it went or how to get it back. It wasn't until that happened that I realized how much blogging has become such an important part of my life. I was so frustrated and upset that I had lost it and everything that I've done with it for the past year. I've made such wonderful friends through my blog and there are some of you, you know who you are, who have become like sisters to me. Anyway, I've been nervous since then and every time I log on to my blog I'm afraid I'll discover it's been removed again.  I know it's silly and I don't really think it will keep vanishing but what can I say? I'd be devastated if I lost it for good. Enough said. Now I'm going to show you a bunny that I finished soon after Herman Hare. This one is probably my favorite one so far. I'm calling him Benji Bunny.

Benji has only been working in the coloration department of the Easter Egg Factory North Pole division for the past year. He has worked his way from solid color dying to multi-color applications. He hasn't quite mastered swirls but when it comes to mottled coloring he's quite proud of  his work.

To Benji, working at the factory is a life long dream come true.

I have one more bunny to paint and that will be the end of them for this year. On Easter Sunday I hope to have the final bunny finished and will do a post.

Until then, I'll be keeping busy and will visit as many of your blogs as time allows.

Be well and as always, thanks for stopping by.

Hugs,
Maddy

WORKING ON OUR EASTER TREE

We've been working on the decorations for our Easter tree. We were having so much fun that Clarissa decided she wanted to help so the three of us have been painting and glittering and having a really great time.

Last week we went to visit our aunties who live on a Christmas tree farm. While we were there our auntie Maggie gave us some little chicks she made. They are so cute. She gave Mom one too but we don't think she likes hers cause she keeps sticking pins and needles in it.

Mom has been sewing for the past few days and she made us each a new romper. We had her take a picture of us wearing our new outfits. Each of us has a heart shaped button that's our favorite color sewn on the front. Clarissa's is hot pink. Bellamine's is coral and Wendy's is purple. Wendy thinks her outfit makes her feet look big. Polar bears do have bigger feet cause it helps them walk on snow. At least that's what Mom told us.

She made us the new rompers to wear to the Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday. Mom says the ruffles on our shoulders are our angel wings cause we're her little angels.

Here we are decorating our little tree. It's the same one we've been decorating since Christmas. This time we decorated it with flutter buys and nasturtiums and tulips and Easter eggs.

We thought the little chicks would like sitting under the tree.

Bellamine and Clarissa putting the last of the ornaments on the tree. We really do like all of the pretty spring colors.

I'm going to go get Mom so she can get some pictures of us and our tree.

Our tree.

Us

We sure do hope there are going to be lots of eggs at the egg hunt and we hope they're all chocolate. What are you going to do for Easter?  Are your going to hunt for eggs? Do you get to color Easter eggs? Does the Easter bunny come to your house? We're getting excited cause we heard there's going to be candy and we like candy. We hope we get Easter baskets.

Mom says we have to eat our breakfast before we can visit our friends who blog on Friday so as soon as we eat we're going to visit all of our bear friends and see what they've been doing.

Thanks for coming to see us.

Hugs,
Bellamine, Wendy & Clarissa

NOT JUST ANOTHER BUNNY

I've finished the second of my bunnies and at this point there are only three more to go. I'm trying to keep them from looking like anything that you've ever seen before. I'll leave the vintage style Easter rabbits to those who are good at it and concentrate on showing you what sort of rabbit I see when I think Easter Bunny.

All of the work of dying eggs and making up the baskets is done in a factory now adays you know. Sure, it's still being done by bunnies but now they have a union and have a  great benefits package.  The medical alone ... well you can imagine what that can mean with the size of rabbit families.

The head bunny at the North Pole Easter Egg Factory or the NPEEF as we like to call it, is Pugsley who you've already met.  I've heard he can be a real task master but that is just what I've heard. The bunny you're meeting today is one of the master colorists and has been working at the factory for all of his adult life. His name is Beauboo Bunny and he's shy and somewhat timid and doesn't have much to say but I'm told he's an excellent worker.

After coloring his eggs Beauboo must take them to be inspected. Quality Assurance or QA has become a big deal in the Easter Egg industry.

Uh....hello?

Is anybody here?

Uh...Guys?

Where is everybody?

Yoohoo!!

Has everybody left for the day?

There you are Beauboo, getting in a little overtime are you?  I don't suppose you feel like going for a nice cold carrot juice after work now do ya'?

Uh...sure boss.

I was told Pugsley looks somewhat like one of my Santa figures. It might be the white fur on his face and chest does make him look a wee bit like Santa. I doubt anyone will mistake Beauboo here as being a Santa impersonator.

I've painted him a soft pale gray with darker under tones and have given him a white face and cotton tail. Beauboo is sculpted from paper mache clay and the eggs in his basket are made with cold porcelaine clay.

I'll be painting or sewing for the next few days while I wait for paper mache to dry. What are you working on?

As always, thanks for stopping by.

FIRST OF MY PUDGY BUNNIES

February is a month for birthdays in my family. Today my son Ken is celebrating his and  yesterday my grandson AJ had his. The day before that was my brother-in-law Ron's birthday. My grandson Donovan had his birthday on February 2nd and my mother's birthday was on the 8th. For a short month we made the best of it.

I told Ken I was baking him his favorite cake and here's his reaction:

Do you think maybe he likes cake? Happy birthday Ken!!!

I've been working on some paper mache rabbits for Easter and I finally have one painted and ready for his debut. The ones I have made so far all appear to have packed on a few pounds over the long winter months. I was trying to come up with a name for this one and finally decided to name him what I've been calling him all the while I worked on him.

I would like you to meet Pugsley Cottontail.

Okay, turn a little to your right so we can get a better look at what you've got there. Pugsley is carrying a green painted metal bucket with a rope handle that holds a bouquet of flowers.

Let's get a look at that tail. It really does look like it's made of cotton. Okay, turn a little more...

Without the bucket in the way you really can see the pudgy tummy.

"Hey, who're you calling pudgy?? You got a problem with chubby rabbits?? I didn't think so!

I should be able to start painting another bunny tomorrow. It seems to take forever for the paper mache to dry this time of year.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway if you haven't already. I have an idea for something else to add in with Miss Kanin but it's a surprise so I can't tell you what it is.

As always, thanks for stopping by

BLOG ANNIVERSARY GIVEAWAY

My first year blog anniversary is coming up on March 6th so I thought what better time than now to have a giveaway. Since there are also two holidays coming up I took that into consideration for deciding on a prize.

Easter wins hands down for being the most popular holiday of the two for decorating so I needed to come up with something that would be special and unique and would be something you could use to decorate with for Easter. I say special and unique because nothing short of that will do as a prize to be given to one of my fabulous followers.

Trying to decide on something that is special and unique is a lot harder to do than you may think. Well, it is for me anyway. I'd thought about making some sort of Easter eggs but have been seeing them pop up here and there on some of your blogs so I ruled them out. Not quite unique enough.

I then thought about making a pattern for a one of a kind bunny doll and that sounded like it just might be the perfect prize. After some trials and errors this is what I ended up making.

This is little Miss Kanin (Danish for rabbit) who is out for a stroll. She's carrying a basket for the wild flowers that bloom in the field near her hutch.

She is wearing a hand stitched cotton dress of dusty rose with small blue flowers that is topped with a white cotton apron trimmed with pink and blue stitching.

She is made of muslin and is button jointed so she can be posed either sitting or standing.  She has embroideried features and stands  8 1/2" tall.

Here are the rules for entering this giveaway.

1.  Be a follower of this blog.

2. Leave me a message on this post telling me you would like a chance of winning this doll.

That's it!! Nothing more than these two requirements.  I will have the drawing for the winner on March 6th.

What could be easier? Since there is still a little over two weeks until my anniversary I'm bound to be making something else to add to my giveaway. I'm not sure yet what it will be, guess we'll just have to wait and see.

As always, thanks for stopping by.
